The Seoul, Hanyang Country Club
The cradle of the Korean Golf
SEOUL Country Club
Seoul Hanyang Country Club, also known as the cradle of Korean golf, holds a significant place in Korea's golf history.
Established in 1927 as the first golf course on the Korean peninsula with support from the imperial family, it has served as a prominent stage for diplomacy and a social gathering place for distinguished individuals over the years.
One of the club's notable alumni, Yeon Deok-chun, became the first professional Korean golfer and won the 1941 Japan Open. Furthermore, the club played a pivotal role in the development of Korean golf by founding the Korea Open and the Korea Amateur Championship. The course is set on a 560,000-pyung(1.85 million square meters) of land, featuring a unique 36-hole layout for members and an additional 9-hole public course.
The course's design and construction emphasized preserving the natural landscape by minimizing heavy machinery use and incorporating the beauty of the Bukhansan Mountain and the indigenous pine and fruit trees into its layout. Notably, the course is adorned with cherry blossom trees, making it a famous spot for cherry blossom viewing that resembles a snowfall when in full bloom.
Seoul Hanyang Country Club is conveniently located near the heart of Seoul, offering a peaceful escape surrounded by lush trees and the northern ridge. It's a place where golfers can find solace in nature while cherishing a rich history, tradition, and reputation.
